Horse Guard Trail Ride

Troopers from the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG) will host a benefit trail ride for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center on the Grounds of its Fairfield Hills Headquarters on Saturday, November 6. This event is open to horse owners everywhere. There are trails along fields and through wooded areas and there is a stream crossing.

Riders will complete the 8-mile trail ride at their own pace. All riders are asked to obtain a pledge sheet to raise funds and all proceeds will go directly to the Children’s Medical Center. Riders under the age of 18 must have a release form signed by a parent or guardian and all riders are asked to wear safety helmets. Proof of current Coggins and Rabies vaccinations must be provided for each horse.

Riders will be permitted to park their trailers on 2GHG property and Troopers will monitor all street crossings. This is a unique opportunity to have access to this beautiful and well-maintained system of trails and contribute to a worthy cause.

For more than 200 years, 2GHG has been serving the citizens of Connecticut and is one of the oldest Cavalry Units in existence. 2GHG Troopers participate in ceremonial events such as parades, funeral honor guards and other events at the order of the Governor or the State Military Department.

Registration forms for the ride may be picked up at 2GHG, downloaded from the website (www.thehorseguard.org) or attendees may have them mailed. For more information, including start times, call 203-426-9046.  2GHG Troopers and Mounts remain, as always, “Ready To Serve.”
