Deadlines For Voters Approaching

HARTFORD (AP) — The Connecticut secretary of the state is reminding residents who intend on voting in November that the deadline to register to vote by mail is fast approaching.

Susan Bysiewicz said in a release that the deadline to register to vote by mail is October 19. That means voter registration cards must be postmarked no later than that date.

The deadline to register to vote in person at town offices for the November 2 general election is October 26.

Absentee ballots are available of the secretary of the state’s website at sots.ct.gov.

The state’s top election official says there have already been more than 58,000 new voters registered this year, bringing the total number to just over two million. More than 800,000 of those are unaffiliated, while about 744,000 are Democrats and about 414,000 are Republicans.
