DANBURY — The Circle of Hope Women’s Fellowship of Newtown Congregational Church is planning a Meet the Author’s Luncheon on Saturday, November 9, beginning at noon.

The event will be at Barbarie’s Black Angus Grill, 5 Eagle Road in Danbury. Directly following lunch, authors Carolyn Laurentus and Nancy E. Haack will be the featured speakers.

Laurentus will be speaking about her first children’s book, Santa’s Spies Are Fireflies. She is a retired language arts teacher for the Naugatuck school system. She was the 2015 Naugatuck Educator of the Year and currently works as a writing tutor at Connecticut State Community College.

Haack is an accomplished children’s artist and the illustrator of Santa’s Spies Are Fireflies. She is also the author of the romance novel A Day to Remember and recently finished its sequel.

Cost is $25 per person, which includes soft drinks and a wide array of menu items. A cash bar will also be available.

Checks are to be made out to Circle of Hope and mailed to Circle of Hope-Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, Newtown CT 06470. Deadline for reservations is October 29.

Those planning to attend are asked to consider bringing a nonperishable canned food for Hospitality Hall at Newtown Congregational Church. Raffle tickets will be given to each donor for a chance on a door prize.
