Newtown High School’s girls’ and boys’ soccer teams posted lopsided victories over Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport on October 8. The girls won 8-0 in a game at Treadwell Park, and the boys earned a 6-0 victory on the road.

The Nighthawk squads took on Stratford on October 12, and both again came out on top in shutouts. This time, things were much closer as the girls prevailed 2-0 on the road and the boys came out on top 1-0 at home.

In the girls’ win over Kolbe, Kendyl Morgenstern had two goals, and Riley Powers, Skyler Howard, Katie Rowan, Sophia Guevara, Madison Singlak, and Jamie Rowan all hit the back of the net. Against Stratford, Hannah Snayd and Powers both scored.

Jake Gonski netted four goals and Gunnar Bozentko and Mateo Moura each scored in the 6-0 win over Kolbe. Gonski had the lone goal against Stratford.
