To the Editor:

For me, it’s Michelle McCabe hands down when it comes to voting for our State Senate Representative. Michelle listens, is smart as a whip, knows her stuff, and shows a degree of compassion rare in politics. I’ve rarely been this enthusiastic and excited about a political candidate.

I met Michelle several months ago at a local environmental group meeting that she attended to learn about our concerns. Michelle listened, took notes, thought over what we all said... and came up with both intelligent questions and feasible solutions. I knew after that meeting that Michelle would not only work tirelessly for her constituents, but be accessible to each and every one of us.

Michelle has concrete plans for boosting Connecticut’s lagging economy by investing in and rebuilding small businesses. She will fight for healthcare reform, gun violence prevention, and a green economy. She will initiate a unique public-private student loan forgiveness program for college graduates who move back to, move to, or stay and work in Connecticut.

Michelle’s passion for local agriculture and student health led her to become a food policy advocate and expert. She has served on the Governor’s Agriculture Council, held leadership roles with the Connecticut Food System Alliance, and worked for the Yale Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity. Since 2014 she has held a position with the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport, where she helps feed the food insecure through the Center for Food Equity and Economic Development’s (FEED) food pantries and community meal programs.

We in the 28th District have a treasure in Michelle, and would be foolhardy not to send her to Hartford as our senator. Get out and vote, and vote for Michelle.

Sincerely,

Susan Kassirer
