Inaugural Chili Cook-Off To Feature Local Restaurants

The Newtown Chamber of Commerce is hosting the inaugural Newtown Chili Cook-Off Wednesday, November 5 in the gymnasium at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, from 5:30 to 8 pm.

Local restaurants will perfect their chili recipes and enter to compete for the title of “Best Chili in the Greater Newtown Area.”

Some of the competitors include Sal e Pepe Contemporary Italian Bistro, My Place Restaurant, Tavern, and Butcher’s Best Attendees will have the opportunity to taste a small sample of each restaurant’s chili and vote on their favorite.

At the end of the night, the contender with the most votes will win a special prize and bragging rights for the best chili in the area.

In addition to the chili tasting, guests can enjoy a beer tasting provided by Black Hog Brewing Company.

Tickets cost $25 for those participating in the chili and beer tasting, and $15 for those just interested in the chili tasting. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Beer tasting guests must be 21+, and IDs will be checked at the door. Tickets will be available for purchase on the Newtown Chamber website at www.newtown-ct.com.
