To the Editor:
I am Bernard McLoughlin, a police commissioner in North Haven, and the immediate past chairman of the Board of the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut.
I am writing this letter in support of Joel Faxonâs candidacy for police commissioner in Newtown.
Mr Faxonâs professional standing as a distinguished attorney and his outstanding commitment to public service in the area of public safety is well known throughout Connecticut.
Mr Faxon has provided years of support, service, and leadership in the effort to eliminate drunk driving in Connecticut, as recognized by the MADDâs prestigious Community Champions Corporate Award which he received in 2009.
Mr Faxon, serving on the MADD State Operations Council along with state and municipal police officials from across Connecticut, gives countless hours of his own time and resources to the eradication of drunk driving. Mr Faxonâs legal expertise and dedication has provided direction, development, and implementation of anti-drunk driving policies and programs that have resulted in the reduction of fatalities and injuries on our roads. In addition, as an attorney, Mr Faxon in the legal system has represented and fought hard to give a voice to victims.
The residents of Newtown will be fortunate to have a man of Mr Faxonâs caliber on their Police Commission.
I fully endorse Mr Faxon for the position as a member of the Newtown Police Commission and thank him for his efforts in the area of public safety.
Bernard McLoughlin
