Senior Citizens: Get Friendly With Your Computer
C.H. Booth Library, at 25 Main Street, has two programs coming up to help senior citizens grappling with using a computer or laptop.
âGetting to Know Your PC Laptop â For Seniorsâ is a free, informative program scheduled for Friday, October 21, from 9 to 11 am, in the libraryâs meeting room.
Mike Ingber of Upward Business Systems will dispel the mysteries and discuss parts of the computer, what programs attendees have on their computer and what they do, what can be connected to your laptop, what is needed to enjoy music and movies on a laptop, what choices are for accessing the Internet, how to know if you are safe from viruses, simple things to do to care for your laptop, and much more.
Attendees should bring plenty of questions⦠and their laptop.
Space is limited to 15 people. Participants will need to enter either from the handicap/side or back entrance of the library because the building is usually closed at the time the class is held.
Call the library to sign up at 203-426-4533. This class is made possible through a generous grant from General Electric Corporation.
Then in November, another two-hour class will be offered, twice.
âBasic Computer Skills Class for Seniorsâ will be held Friday, November 4, and repeated Friday, November 18. These classes will also run 9 to 11 am, but these will be on the third floor of the library. The class is for absolute beginners, so donât be shy about coming!
Participants will learn how to use the mouse and âclick,â how to type a letter, what the Internet is and how to access it. Those who sign up to attend will also need to enter the library through the handicap/side or back entrance because library is closed Friday mornings when the class is scheduled.
Sign up is limited to ten people for these classes, and can be done by calling the library at 203-426-4533.
