IPN Is Many Things, But Not Narrow Minded
IPN Is Many Things, But Not
Narrow Minded
To the Editor:
Barbara OâConnor, an active member of the Republican Town Committee, last week accused the IPN and I of being narrow minded [âNarrow-Minded Representation,â Letter Hive, 10/7/11]. This sounds like more throwing mud against the wall and seeing what sticks.
The IPN is a lot of things: passionate, energetic, committed, change seekers, innovators, volunteers, involved, parents, mothers and fathers. The one thing that does not fit is narrow mindedness.
The IPN and its supporters are made up of Republicans, Democrats, unaffiliated, and Independent voters. They have committed themselves to a better Newtown by bringing new and different ideas to the table. They have committed themselves to bringing Newtown forward, building on the best of the past and the potential of new approaches and innovative ideas. They have not been afraid to seek change for the long-term benefit of Newtown.
IPN elected officials often have different ideas on issues based on research and facts. They do not vote based on party directives. They think independently and are tied together by the belief in accountability, checks and balances, and transparency.
This election should be about issues. Please look for The Newtown Bee pre-election [survey] where you will be able to read about each candidate, in their own words, expressing what they feel will be their mission, priorities, and things they would like to see changed.
