Sandy Hook Resident Named To State Panel

House Minority Leader Robert M. Ward, R-86th District, has appointed Wendy Davenson of Sandy Hook to the Children’s Behavioral Health Advisory Committee and the State Advisory Council on Children and Families.

The appointment was announced by state representatives DebraLee Hovey, R-112th District, and Julia B. Wasserman, R-106th District.

The 31-member committee is charged with promoting and enhancing the delivery of behavioral health services to children.

“I know Wendy Davenson both personally and professionally,” said Representative Hovey, who recommended her for the appointment. “She is a licensed marriage and family therapist with experience as both an educator and a practitioner. She is a tenacious advocate for children’s mental health issues who is dedicated to helping at-risk children and strengthening Connecticut families. Wendy’s background and professional experience make her uniquely well-qualified for this position.”

“I’d like to commend Representative Ward for appointing Ms Davenson to this committee,” Representative Wasserman said. “It is always a pleasure to announce the appointment of one of my constituents to critical state panels like this one. The Children’s Behavioral Health Advisory Committee plays an important role in helping troubled children become responsible, productive adults. I am confident that Ms Davenson will make a valuable contribution to the work of this important committee.”

“I hope that your service in this position will be challenging and satisfying. I know that the talent and expertise you bring to it will be of great value and service to our state and its citizens,” Representative Ward said in his letter to Ms Davenson informing her of the appointment. “On behalf of the people of Connecticut, please accept my thanks for your willingness to accept the challenge of public service.
