Lights On After School
Lights On After School
The Education Connection After-School Adventure Program at Reed Intermediate School wants to shed light on after-school programs.
The students of the Education Connection Adventure Program will be celebrating Lights On After School on Thursday, October 20, from 4 to 6 pm. Lights On is celebrated by after-school programs nationwide and is chaired by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger; it is sponsored by The After-School Alliance. The After-School Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing after-school care to kids across the country. In past years more than 3,600 communities have participated in Lights On. This year the alliance hopes to have more than one million Americans join in the celebration.
The students of the Adventure Program will be celebrating with a dance performance at 4:30 pm. The Newtown Police Department will be fingerprinting kids at 5 pm. It is open to the public and parents are invited to bring their children to be fingerprinted; it may help save their life one day. There will be pizza and other refreshments.
Reed Intermediate School is at 3 Trades Lane. For more information regarding Education Connection or other Lights On celebrations in the Newtown area contact Matt Tynan at 800-852-4314, extension 195, or visit www.afterschoolalliance.org.
