Honoring Newtown's Old Families
Honoring Newtownâs Old Families
To the Editor:
Newtown clearly has a rich history, as both old and new alike have been learning during this tercentennial year. We have learned about historic buildings and events, businesses and places, but all the history comes back to people. Families make a town together, and many of us want to hear more about the historic families of Newtown.
On Sunday, December 4, the Committee to Showcase and âCelebrate Newtownâs Historic Familiesâ is cordially inviting Newtownâs historic families to present for display, pictures, artifacts, and memorabilia of their familyâs history in Newtown. The showcase will be presented at the Cyrenius Booth Library from 11 am until 4 pm.
If your family history in Newtown goes back at least 75 years, please consider sharing your special history with your Newtown friends and neighbors. Please contact me at 270-7703, and I will be happy to explain how you can put together a display for this tercentennial event.
Sincerely,
Barbara Bloom
