Historic Classroom Program, October 22
Historic Classroom Program, October 22
BROOKFIELD â The Brookfield Museum & Historical Society will present a program about Brookfieldâs one-room schoolhouse days on Saturday, October 22.
Soni Phinney Miller, a former elementary school teacher in the Brookfield school system, will don the period costume of a schoolmarm and conduct a class as it would have been presented in the 1850s. Visitors can participate, assuming the role of students. They will be treated to a typical school day with materials and games indicative of the era on display.
Each year Ms Miller conducts this program for all the kindergarten classes at Brookfieldâs Center School and now the community will have the opportunity to share in the event. The program is part of the societyâs continuing education program for area students within the Brookfield community.
The program will begin at 1 pm, and admission is free. It will be presented at the historical society museum, located at the junction of Routes 25 and 133 in Brookfield Center.
