Fall Art Show And Sale Will

Honor Newtown’s Tercentennial

Original paintings by area artists will be featured at The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown’s Fall Art Show & Sale, which will run from Friday, October 21, until Sunday, October 23, at Newtown Meeting House.

This annual show, sponsored by SCAN, will be open from 10 am until 5 pm daily. Visitors will be treated to framed art (oils, pastels, watercolors and graphic pieces) as well as plenty of unframed work in portfolios.

This year, in honor of the town’s Tercentennial, members of SCAN have been challenged to find inspiration in a Newtown scene.  A special category within the show will highlight these paintings, and an award, judged by Mae Schmidle, one of SCAN’s founding members, will be presented to the painting deemed to best capture the beauty and spirit of Newtown.

The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy the art at the Opening Reception on Friday, October 21, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Meeting House.

The show will be presented in the lower room of Newtown Meeting House, which is at 31 Main Street.

For information, call show chairman Mary Karen Merrill at 426-1991.
