Kenneth Walter Casey, Jr, aged 70, of Oakville, Connecticut, passed away at Waterbury Hospital on September 17, 2023, due to a sudden illness.

He was born on October 26, 1952, in Danbury, Connecticut, to the late Kenneth Walter Casey, Sr and Sarah Carlson Casey.

Ken graduated from Newtown High School in 1970 and had a successful career with various companies in the area, ultimately retiring from Sandvik, also known as Kanthal, in 2017.

Known for his unwavering passion for sports, Ken was an avid fan throughout his life. In his youth, he was often found at SAC’s field, enjoying the games with friends and family. He also actively participated in slow-pitch softball as both a player and spectator. Ken’s favorite teams included the Yankees, the Giants, and the UConn Huskies, but his love for sports extended to all types. He would eagerly engage in sports conversations with anyone willing to listen and was lovingly known as an “armchair quarterback.” Ken enjoyed taking back road drives and leisurely walks during the summer and autumn, especially accompanied by his beloved dog and companion, Princess.

Ken was the oldest of four siblings and is survived by his brother, William Casey, and his wife, Pamela, of York Beach, Maine; his sisters, Mary Hudson and her husband, John, of Sykesville, Md.; and Debra Jones and her husband, Jay, of Denton, Md. Ken Casey was a loving husband to his late wife, Johanne Casey.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Nadia Brady and her husband, Ben, of Bristol, Conn. Ken was also fortunate to have spent precious years with his partner, the late Mary Ann Ford, his stepchildren Michelle Vitali and the late Justin Ford, as well as Michelle’s daughters, Hannah and Madelyn. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Gordon and Patrick Casey. He will be missed by many friends and family members, including special cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm to honor and remember Ken. The family invites attendees to dress comfortably and suggests the use of sportswear affiliated with Ken, or his favorite teams. The event will be held at the following location, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue 18-20 Riverside Rd, Sandy Hook, CT, 06482.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ken’s memory to the Connecticut Humane Society at 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111. To donate, please visit: cthumane.org.
