The Newtown Sustainable Energy Commission and SmartPower, a nonprofit clean energy marketing organization, will co-host a special “PowerSmart” virtual info session about Solar + Storage at 6 pm Wednesday, October 18.

The 60-minute PowerSmart Newtown event is part of the town’s educational “Energy Storage Solutions” program launched in May and currently running in just five other towns in the state.

This virtual session will feature both SmartPower and the Connecticut Green Bank, which administers the Energy Storage Solutions program jointly with Eversource and United Illuminating. The session is open to all Newtown homeowners interested in learning about the various financial incentives that can help reduce costs and advance residential clean energy by combining solar panels with a battery storage back-up system that can provide zero-fossil-fuel power at night and especially during power outages.

Dedicated to promoting clean energy and energy efficiency nationwide, SmartPower is supporting Newtown’s PowerSmart campaign.

Newtown has been a leader in solar installations both on a residential and municipal level along with a number of commercial installations.

The Sustainable Energy Commission is currently looking at additional town sites to add or increase solar production and wants to help promote residential and commercial adoption of solar whenever possible.

Additional information and registration for October 18 is available at powersmartnewtown.wee.green under Events.
