ETH Movie Ticket Price Increase Coming
The Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers has decided to increase the price of movie tickets to $3 effective Friday, December 2.edmondtownhall.org for more information.
The decision marks the first price increase in 20 years. The move follows major theater improvements made during the past few years, including renovation of the theater's architecture, installation of a digital projector, updated sound and lighting, and balcony improvements.
"The cost of maintaining the building and the digital technology required to run movies is higher than in the past," said Margot Hall, chairman of the board. "After many years, it is time to bring movie and rental prices more in line with what it costs to offer these services."
Located at 45 Main Street, Edmond Town Hall was completed in 1931 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was a gift from Newtown benefactress Mary Elizabeth Hawley.
It has served as the heart of Newtown since its inception by providing residents with governmental services space; affordable family entertainment through its theater; sports opportunities in its gymnasium; and elegant space rentals to help residents and neighbors gather or celebrate life events.
