Harvest Tournament
The Roadrunners swept through four games to capture first at the Cape Cod Harvest Cup Tournament last weekend. Casey Rutter had three shutouts as the âRunners â led by Ali Pliszka, Sarah Attanasio, Kelly OâConnor, Jill Jagoe and Anna Bernath â allowed just one goal through the course of the tournament.
Roadrunners 4, Barnstable 0 â Shannon Paproski netted a hat trick in the first half to set the tone. Izzy Gleason added another goal to finish the scoring. KellyAnne Brophy, Kaitlin Brophy and Sarah Murtha all had assists.
Roadrunners 2, Enfield 1 â Kaitlin Brophy netted both goals on assists by Emma Kingsley and Shannon Paproski.
Roadrunners 1, Manchester 0 â Kaitlin Brophy forced a Manchester penalty near the goal and KellyAnne Brophy converted the PK for the gameâs lone goal. The defense turned back numerous Manchester attacks and Casey Rutter made several big saves.
Roadrunners 1, Manchester 0 â In the tournament championship, Kaitlin Brophy scored the game winner in the first half off an assist by KellyAnne Brophy. Newtown played great team soccer to keep Manchester off the board, highlighted by the final 10 minutes where the Roadrunners did not allow Manchester to get off a shot and possessed the ball almost exclusively in the Manchester defensive end of the field.
Girls U13
Power 1, Windsor 0 â Kendall Svanda scored the lone goal off of a great cross by Meaghan Carney to lift the Power to a win in the Windsor Tournament. The Power ended the tournament with a 1-3-1 record. The defense of Abby Keough, Alex Klein, Brooke Leifels, Cristina Naldini, Katherine Scott, Molly Mahony, and goal tending by Stefanie Clavette and Kendall Svanda was superb throughout the tournament as the locals allowed only three goals in five games.
Boys U11
Glastonbury 3, Beasts 1(CT Cup) â Charlie Helgren scored the lone goal for the Beasts while Connor Gallagher and Robert Linden were strong on offense. Matt Baldino, Phil Healy and Jonah Muniz anchored the defense with Austin Raftery strong in goal.

Bethel Tournament
Lightning 1, Monroe 0 â Dale Shearin scored the lone goal for the Lightning off a corner kick by Kailee Dunnigan to defeat Trumbull. Meghan Korchman and Shelby Tolla helped control the midfield for the Lightning.
Bethel 1, Lightning 0 â Bethel scored with two minutes left in the game, handing the Lightning its first loss of the season. Taylor LaFave and Cassie Fischer performed well in the goal, blocking many shots by a strong Bethel team.
Lightning 3, Wilton 0 â Sarah Lynch sparked the Lightning with two goals and Amy Martinelli had one as the team shut out Wilton for the win. Siena Cicarelli and Meghan Korchman were solid in the goal.
Lightning 2, Westport 2 â After falling behind 2-1 at halftime, Newtown dominated in the second half but could only manage a tie against a tough Westport team. Emily Riley and Sarah Lynch scored for the Lightning. Kailee Dunnigan had a great all-around game, and Megan Meyer and Meghan Brophy anchored the Lightning defense.

Bethel Tournament
Newtown 2, Westport 0 â Clay Gattey scored two goals with the assistance of Luca Imbimbo to lead Newtown past Westport. The midfield was controlled by Kaj Djonne and Sawyer Conrad while Ryan King and Knute Johnson controlled the defense, shutting down any offensive threat. Kevin Ovendorf was outstanding in goal and Kevin Droniak sparked the offense by stealing several balls and setting up the offense.
Southbury 2, Newtown 0 â Kevin Droniak, Contstant Gregoire and Nathyn Horvath played great midfield in a loss to Southbury. Colin Reilly, Dillon Wikramanayake and Brenton Scott controlled the defense as Graham Hubbert played Well in goal.
Newtown 5, Fairfield B 3 â Clay Gattey scored two goals and Brenton Scott, Luca Imbimbo and Sawyer Conrad scored one apiece to lead Newtown past Fairfield. Kaj Djonne and Ryan King had assists. Knute Johnson and Kevin Ovendorf controlled the defense.
Newtown 3, Fairfield A 2 â Brenton Scott scored two goals (both off corner kicks, unassisted) and Clay Gattey added one to lead Newtown to its third win of the Bethel Tournament. Nathyn Horvath, Constant Gregoire and Colin Reilly were fantastic as Dillon Wikramanayake and Graham Hubbert made numerous defense plays to shut down any offensive threats.

Girls U14
Hurricanes 1, Dominators 0 â Samantha Lew scored the only goal to lead the Hurricanes to the win. Christie Iorfino, Michelle Spanedda and Rachel Karnoff had terrific performances. For the Dominators, goalie Bianea LaBlanc and defenders Emily Flowers and Sarah Hasselberger played well.
Boys U14
Liverpool 5, Dynamite 1 â Colin Cooper scored three goals to power Liverpool to the win. Dieter Gutbrod and Jake Locorotondo anchored a tough defense in front of goalie Bobby Mascher. For the Dynamite, Craig Frigon scored the goal off an assist from Ryan LeMay. Michael Greenwood and Yossi Kohrman-Glaser played well.
Golden Toasters 3, Dynamite 1 â Grant Ricketts, Francis Saracini and Tyler Ruefenacht scored for the Golden Toasters while Taylor Rudder and Luca Weibel played strong defense to preserve the win. Tanner Janesky scored for the Dynamite on a beautifully executed assist from Ryan LeMay. Tim Bock, Liam Reynolds and Justin Germak played strong defense while Nolan Cosgrove played well at midfield.
Meteors 3, Danbury 2 â Kieran Lardner scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Meteors to the win. Jack McManus also scored and Chad Cullens added an assist. Ian Lew and Zach Baudisch played well at midfield as RJ Roman anchored the defense.
Girls U10
Comets 3, Nighthawks 0 â Hayley Dunn scored three goals as the Comets defeated the Nighthawks. Courtney Datin had a great game as goalie as Sophia Devino was strong on defense and Anna Pinckney and Anita Luxkaranayagam both contributed fine all-around performances. For the Nighthawks, Mandy Mele, Aileen Sheluck and Bailey Smith played a strong offense, and Renee Henriques gave a great performance in goal.
Tie-Dyed Tigers 2, Soccer Shockers 0 â Kerry Scallon and Rebecca Grant (penalty kick) scored to lead the Tigers to the win. Ashley Maturo and Meghan Grimes were persistent on offense while Ashley Marks once again proved to be an excellent defensive back. For the Shockers, Christina DeBartolomeo was solid in goalie position, making several nice saves. Megan Weber and Catherine McHugh were solid on defense and Danielle Agugliaro played a great all-around game.
Strikers 1, Twisters 0 â Aâine Duffy scored off a great pass from Brenna Kelly to lead the Strikers to the win. Emma DeFlumeri, Michelle Zarifis, Kelly OâConnell and Selina Henn all had great games. For the Twisters, Sarah Craig and Hope McMorran were great in goal while Jenna Hansen and Tess Stofko were strong on defense.
Boys U10
Dynamite 1, Red Bulls 0 â Alec Beauchmin and Patrick Berger played great as forwards applying the offensive pressure for the Dynamite, but it was midfielder Chris Zakur who scored the gameâs lone goal just before halftime. Connor Miller and Wesley Morlock played strong games at midfield as well and Danny Toby played great aggressive defense. For the Red Bulls, Alex Gerbo and Jared Brady played excellent defense and Bradley Kretz controlled the midfield. Jordan Abraham made several runs into the box to no avail.
Team (#6) 2, Hurricanes 1 â Michael Alicea scored both goals while Michael Stierle had a solid offensive performance to lead Team #6 to the win. Charlie Poarch and Matt Barra played great defense. For the Hurricanes, David Csordas scored the lone goal as Joe Stromsky and Noah Velush-Rogers sparked the D.
Camel Shards 2, The Oskars 1 â Matt Mossbarger and Connor Roche scored one goal each to lead the Camel Shards to the win. Samuel Omalyev played a great game and James Barry was solid in goal. Albert Dean scored the lone goal for The Oskars. Matthew Hess and Alec Hersh played a good overall game while Tommy Shaker anchored the defense.
Oskars 4, Scorpions 0 â Spencer Toler led the scoring attack as the Oskars topped the Scorpions 4-0. Dillon Palumbo also assisted with a strong effort up front. Lukas Palumbo and Adam Koziol anchored a tough defense to preserve the shutout. For the Scorpions, Tyler Dullinger lead a continued attack on both sides of the field with Max Galassi helping out on the wing. Daniel Cummings anchored the defense with Zachary Weiland playing another strong game in the net.
Boys U8
Rockets 3, Blasters 0 â Thomas Gravel had two goals and Ryan Kiss one to lead the Rockets. Jack Wellman and Philip Coffey played outstanding defense. For the Blasters, Colin Keogler had a great game in goal and on the field. Connor Barrett and Michael Liberante also had outstanding performances.
Hot Shots 4, Lightning Bolts 0 â Bryce Mather, Bobby Katrinak, Evan Eggleston, and Richard Ciamarra all scored to lead the Hot Shots. Thomas Majlinger and Anthony Crisalli had solid overall games. For the Bolts, Thomas Cotton, Daniel Gruber and John McCann sparked the defense as Dylan Kretz played well on offense.
Torpedoes 5, Tigers 1 â James Carney scored three goals while Chris Healy added two goals and an assist to lead the Torpedoes. David Grossman contributed as Tommy Kitzmiller played an excellent game at midfield. Tony Leonardi scored the lone goal for the Tigers as Scott Martin played a solid offensive game. Joe Verga anchored the defense along with Hayes Kelchner (eight saves) in goal.
Superchargers 2, Patriots 0 â Mason Melillo and Andrey Masser each scored a goal to lead the âChargers to the win. Ian Klepacki and Henry Korth played well. For the Patriots, Riley Burns was solid in goal as Owen Walsh, Justin Cicarelli and Matt Principi played well.
Girls U8
Fighting Irish 6, Huskies 1 â Madeline Sieber and Jillian Pieretti led the Irish offensive attack as Julia Scarangella was a force in the goal and Lyndsey Francisco anchored the defense. For the Huskies, Katie Laaksonen scored the lone goal. Celia Gold, Erin Tressler and Riley Smith played aggressive all-round games.
Mustangs 3, Power 0 â Lauren Beier, Alana Murray and Nevan Gattey all scored the lead the Mustangs to the win. Lauren King controlled the midfield and added an assist as Bridgit Spies played great defense.
Killers 1, Rockets 0 â Anna Biondi scored the lone goal to lift the Killers to the win. Caroline Keone, Grace Larson and Emily Neave all played well. For the Rockets, Jane Ricketts was stellar on defense while Anna Harrison did a good job in goal, making one particularly important save. Hannah Hripak, Brittney Antous and Christina Moore sparked the offense.
Boys U6
Blue Lightning 2, Blue Sharks 2 â Dylan Sock scored both goals with assistance from Jack Miller to power the Lightning. Harrison Hoffert sparked the D while Tyler Dickinson was solid in goal. For the Sharks, Jack Hanley scored twice with support from Andrew Lally. Luke Melillo played awesome defense and Anthony Isabella protected the goal.
