Riding To Hounds In Litchfield Hills
Riding To Hounds In Litchfield Hills
The Woodbury Litchfield Hills Foxhounds, Inc., will hold its next guest hunt event on Sunday, October 29, at 12 noon, at Anderson Farm in Morris. Donation is $75 for adults and $50 for juniors under 18. Lunch will be provided for the riders, but guests of riders are welcome with a luncheon donation of $30.
WLHF is dedicated to preserving and enjoying its natural resources and heritage and while participating in the centuries-old country life activity of riding to hounds. Dressed in traditional formal hunting attire, WLHF will be following hounds as they chase an artificial scent over a pre-determined dragline. The line will take riders through the Litchfield Hills â picturesque meadows, brooks, woodlands and rolling farmland. Fences of posts and rails, logs, stone walls, coops and gates will be about 2-foot-6 in height (with go-arounds at every fence). Horses must be well-groomed and fit and there will be several checkpoints where horse and rider can relax. Registration and pre-payment are required one week prior to hunt meet date. Contact Harriet Serota, secretary, at 203-263-2113 (before 9 pm).
