Putting On The Dog

To the Editor:

Canine Advocates of Newtown, Inc, is grateful to everyone who supported our first annual “Putting on the Dog” at McLaughlin Vineyard to benefit Newtown’s pound dogs.

Guests sampled fine wines, thanks to both hostess Morgen McLaughlin-Smith and Matt and Ingrid DeAngelis of Yankee Discount Liquor and Stop & Save Liquor, and their distributors.

Cool jazz, courtesy of The Chris DeAngelis Trio, kept everyone entertained while they placed bids on silent auction items and services generously donated by local businesses.

Refreshments were superb and plentiful, thanks to the many local caterers and restaurants that provided trays of appetizers and desserts. Frank McCloskey of Canine Advocates was the moving force behind the event, and his organizational skills and foresight were greatly appreciated.

Finally, thanks to all who took part and made “Putting on the Dog” a sell-out success by joining Canine Advocates on this beautiful evening, bringing us a little closer to a new pound for Newtown.

Many people have inquired where they can obtain a car magnet to show their support for a new pound; these are available at the Booth Library, Dr Evans’ office, Yankee Discount Liquor, Stop & Save Liquor, or the Sandy Hook Barber Shop.
