The Fascination Of Water Towers

WESTON – For the past eight years Dale Reinker has been painting the buildings and water towers of New York City.

“It all began,” he said, “as I looked out my window while recovering from surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital in lower Manhattan. I was fascinated with the different shapes, sizes and colors, the forms and shadows created by the relationship of building to building and the shapes against the sky.”

The results of that fascination, Mr Reinker’s cityscapes, along with some of his less hard-edged landscapes, will be featured in a one-person exhibition in Weston Library’s community room from Sunday, October 24, through Saturday, November 20.

The exhibition will open with an artist’s reception Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 pm.

Mr Reinker was most recently represented at Art/Place in Southport, in “Artists Invite Artists.” In 1998, as one of 22 members elected to the Silvermine Guild Art Center of New Canaan, he was included in the gallery’s annual New Members Show.

In 1997 he won first prize in acrylics in the Ridgefield Guild of Artists Invitational and in 1995 he won second prize in painting in the prestigious “Art of the Northeast” at Silvermine Guild Art Center.

Weston Library is at 56 Norfield Road; telephone 222-2656.
