`Fathers Night'At NYS
`Fathers Nightâ
At NYS
On Monday, October 18, from 7:30 to 9 pm, Newtown Youth Services will host the second in a series of monthly programs just for Dads. This program will be hosted by Jeff Steinberg, MS, LMFT, a family therapist in private practice in Bethel, and father of two children.
A focus on Fathersâ Night, according to Mr Steinberg, will be how menâs roles in families have changed from the stereotypical roles of just disciplinarian and provider. âThey need to decide what they want their roles to be. This workshop may help men determine how to balance work and family roles, and how to discipline and also be nurturing. Parenting is not an east process â sometimes mothers and fathers donât know what the rules are. Fathers may need to get away from the stereotypes or false ideas of what it means to be a father,â says Mr Steinberg.
This workshop will also address fathersâ roles in all types of families, whether traditional, single parent, or step families.
Mr Steinberg, who has masterâs degrees in both education and marriage and family therapy, has led parenting workshops form nursery school up through adolescence, as well as workshops on anger management, stress in families, ADD, parent/child communication, and children of divorce. In the context of his private practice he works with individuals, as well as parents and children, on a variety of issues including parenting.
To register for this workshop for dads only, call Newtown Youth Services at 270-4335. This workshop is free, and refreshments will be provided.
