The Newtown United Methodist Church (NUMC) annual NUMC Fall Craft Fair is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, at Reed Intermediate School, 3 Trades Lane.

The event will run from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is free.

This year’s event will showcase 35+ local crafters exhibiting a wide variety of handmade goods. Attendees can look forward to browsing home and holiday decor, hand-dipped candles, fine jewelry, custom woodcrafts and pottery, bespoke textile and paper arts, original photography and more from a multitude of local artists.

“The NUMC Fall Craft Fair is a beloved community event,” says Barb Sibley, fair coordinator and NUMC member. “We always enjoy hosting talented local crafters, welcoming the community, and celebrating fall.”

The NUMC Fall Craft Fair will once again feature its famous baked goods and cookie table. The silent auction also will return. Fair attendees can bid on goods and gift cards from favorite local establishments.

Anyone who gets hungry can grab lunch at the Craft Fair’s food truck, hosted by Full Bloom Catering, LLC. The NUMC Fall Craft Fair is the church’s largest annual community outreach event. Funds raised go toward the church’s mission, operations and service programs.

The event also helps support Families United in Newtown (FUN), a local Newtown support group for individuals with autism and their families.

This year, the NUMC Fall Craft Fair will also host representatives from Charter Communications and Community TV 192, which provides local residents with public access television opportunities. Residents within Charter’s service area can learn how to produce and cablecast non-commercial programming. Newtown United Methodist Church is at 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook. Senior Pastor Steve Volpe leads worship services every Sunday at 9:30 am. The church is proud of its active mission and outreach program, Sunday school and youth ministry, monthly pasta suppers, weekly quilters’ guild and its annual craft fair.

Members of NUMC serve cookies from the craft fair’s famous cookie table. The church’s annual event returns to the cafetorium of Reed Intermediate School this month. —Barb Sibley photo
