To the Editor:

This letter is submitted in support of John Fletcher’s candidacy for the Board of Finance.

John has strong credentials for this role. He has been a corporate finance executive at IBM for decades including global assignments in Europe and Asia that give him unique perspective in tackling issues of complexity and community. His education includes an MBA from Columbia and he majored in economics as a Dartmouth undergrad.

John is committed to understanding and meeting the financial needs of our schools and town while mitigating against taxpayer burden. He is informed without being dogmatic, and will be an authoritative, consensus-building presence and voice on the Board of Finance as he works toward solutions for our town.

He is a long-time Newtown resident, and devoted to and proud of his wife Jordana and their four children. Whenever possible, John has a book in his hands and a dog or two in his lap.

Please get to know John and his extensive financial background. He will be an asset to the Board of Finance.
