John P. Tamborino, Sr, 95, of Newtown passed away on September 22, 2023 in Greensboro, N.C.

He was born May 13, 1928 in Stamford, Conn., the son of the late Frank and Philomena Tamborino.

He spent most of his entire life in and around Stamford, Conn. and after retiring, living in Newtown and Greensboro, N.C.

A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Navy.

John had a long working career and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

One of the last of the Greatest Generation in his family, he always had a “can do” attitude, a great work ethic and always put his family first.

John, Sr was a faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Maria, of 43 years and granddaughter Julie Ann. John is survived by John, Jr and Gail of Newtown and Frank A. and Norine of Summerfield, N.C., eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Thursday, October 19, from 5 to 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Rose of Lima Church, on Friday, October 20, at 11 am.
