To the Editor,

I personally think it is great news for Newtown that Jim Gaston has thrown his hat back into the ring to serve on the Board of Finance. Jim served Newtown for many years and in many capacities as chair and vice chair of the Board of Finance, as well as a member of the Board of Selectmen during Pat Llodra’s time as first selectman, to name just a few.

Jim has an incredible amount of knowledge of Newtown, our finances, and our history. Jim also has a history of working with both parties to get things done for the good of the town.

Since Newtown overwhelmingly approved that the Board of Finance continue to serve as a check and balance of our town’s finances, I cannot think of anyone more dedicated or more experienced to help Newtown successfully manage our finances than Jim Gaston.

I served on the Legislative Council during Jim’s time on the Board of Finance, he was always fair, prepared, and knowledgeable on each and every issue. I am proud to call Jim and Stephanie my friends and wholeheartedly endorse Jim Gaston to serve again on the Newtown Board of Finance.
