The Newtown Special Education Parent Teacher Organization (SEPTO) has scheduled its first meeting of the year for Thursday, October 18, in the Newtown High School Lecture Hall, 12 Berkshire Road, at 7 pm.

Newtown SEPTO’s goal is to support families by helping children with special needs reach their greatest potential while fostering collaboration between parents and educators.

The October 18 meeting will include a mock PPT (Planning and Placement Team) meeting. According to Newtown SEPTO president Jenn Strychalsky, the mock PPT meeting will simulate the situations that confront parents at PPT meetings and will explain how to successfully navigate through them. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. The mock PPT will be moderated by Special Education Consultant Kevin Daly.

Membership applications to join the SEPTO will be available at the meeting.
