Business name: Traveling Chic Boutique

Address: 800 Federal Road, Brookfield

Owner: Bobbi Jo Beers

Business background: I started with an airstream in March 2016. I had always thought about opening a shop of some sort and came across the opportunity to own a Traveling Chic Boutique franchise. I don’t come from a fashion background, but I come from a marketing and business background. With the airstream, I’d go all over Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, and it was very physically demanding. The shop opened in June with a ribbon cutting in July.

Business focus: The main product is women’s clothing. Then of course we sprinkle in a ton of fun accessories and gifts. I get new stock in all the time because style is constantly changing. UPS is here practically on a daily basis.

Important to know: To me, when you come in here, it’s not about selling you a piece of clothing or making money off of you, it’s about building a relationship and being part of the community. There are a lot of things I do, one being the Giving Jars. We have reusable bags that everyone loves, but if you forego a bag, we make a dollar donation to one of three charities — there is a kids’ charity, a pet charity, and a community charity. The charities change on the first of every month, so if you come in when the charity is renewing, you can pick your favorite charity. For October, it’s Kids in The Game, Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS), and Danbury Schools and Business Collaborative (DSABC).

Near future promotions, events, seasonal specials: We do shop nights/in-store trunk shows. I’ll put out wine, cheese and crackers, chips, and dip, and then they’ll have the whole store for the night. I also have the host pick a charity and donate 15 percent of their total sales from the two hours or they can earn a clothing product. I do those in-store and at homes with the airstream.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, from 10 am to 6 pm; Thursday and Friday, from 10 am to 7 pm; Saturday, from 11 am to 7 pm; and Sunday, from noon to 4 pm. Fall and holiday hours will be coming soon and will be posted on Facebook.

Owner Bobbi Jo Beers opened Brookfield’s Traveling Chic Boutique at 800 Federal Road in June after running the business out of a shiny silver Airstream trailer since 2016. The retail shop similarly sells women’s clothing as well as accessories and gift items. —Bee Photo, Silber
