To the Editor:

I met Lisa Romano several years ago when our children were participating in an after school activity at Hawley Elementary School. She made an immediate impression as a caring parent. I now know her to be a woman of great character, intelligence, and grace.

I was delighted to learn that she is running for the 106th District seat in the Connecticut House of Representatives. There is an aphorism that all politics are local, and with excellent leadership and representation Newtown will have a strong voice in our state assembly. If we desire elected officials who are smart, ethical, and who sincerely care about our town, Lisa Romano will fulfill these aspirations.

Lisa is an accomplished journalist and editor with rich professional experiences that inform all of her endeavors. She would bring a wealth of knowledge from her professional and volunteer experience to the legislature. She has worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker out of the Newtown office since 2007, seeing the effects of the economic downturn while advocating effectively for her clients. She also received teaching certification in social studies through the Connecticut Alternate Route to Certification program in 2010. Since then, she has held several positions in the public schools, including AVID tutor in Stamford, educational assistant for literacy in Newtown, and substitute teacher. Lisa has also reported about Newtown for Patch.com.

I am confident Lisa will be a strong representative for all of Newtown. Those who know her are well aware of her formidable capabilities, and I urge those who do not, to acquaint themselves with her before casting their vote. On November 6, I will vote for Lisa Romano and hope most of you will too.
