Girls U13

Flash 0, Redding 0 – Conscientious teamwork kept this a tight game in the Bethel Columbus Day Tournament. Bianca Solano, Abby Blakeman, Kelly Brooks, Jenna Hindes and Julia Trudell were quick and aggressive on defense as Molly Arneth played well in midfield.

Flash 0, New Fairfield 0 – Kelly Brooks, Bianca Solano and Abby Blakeman worked untiringly and successfully on defense. Zoe Eggleston, Lyndsey Perlman and Jilliana Ciamarra charged the ball keeping New Fairfield off-guard and made smart passes in midfield.

Flash 2, Danbury 0 – Stephanie Roman scored off an assist by Abby Blakeman and Lindsay Jossick scored off an assist by Stephanie Roman to lead the Flash to the tournament win. Jilliana Ciamarra, Lydia Beiter and Zoe Eggleston worked hard in the midfield. Julia Trudell chased down the offense successfully in several key attempts by Danbury to score. Emily Brisson and Katie Shirley shared the goalkeeping duties for all games, stopping all shots on goal.

Bethel 2, Flash 1 – Lindsay Jossick scored off an assist by Lydia Beiter, but the Flash came up short in their last tournament game. Meaghan Harkins gave it her all in midfield.

Boys U11

Weston 3, White Lightning 0 – Michael Cook played well with many shots on goal and Kevin Ovendorf played well in net with over 10 saves in the first game of the Bethel Columbus Day Tournament. Michael Biancardi and Constant Gregoire worked well in the midfield.

Greenwich 3, White Lightning 0 – Playing the No. 1-ranked and undefeated Greenwich team, the boys played strong and kept things in check with strong defensive effort and play in the midfield. Knute Johnson and Nathyn Horvath were excellent on defense. Anthony Vournazos and Graham Hubbert were dominating in the midfield.

White Lightning 2, Fairfield 2 – Luca Imbimbo and Kaj Djonne (penalty kick) scored as the White Lightning drew even with Fairfield. Ryan King had a beautiful assist on the Imbimbo goal, beating several defenders to get the pass off.

White Lightning 3, Easton 0 – In their best played game of the year, the white lightning passed well and dominated on offense and defense. Clay Gattey, Sawyer Conrad and Patrick Rowley scored and Jeremy Doski had an assist. Dillon Wikramnanyake was excellent on defense containing any offensive effort by Easton and shutting them down. Kevin Ovendorf was great in goal with the shut out.

Girls U11

Lightning 1, Bethel 0 – Sarah Lynch scored the only goal of the game. Caroline Tanner and Kate Fallon were good in the nets. Shelby Tolla and Cassie Fischer helped control the midfield, while Meaghan Brophy anchored the rock-solid defense for the Lightning.

Lightning 2, Wilton 1 – Kailee Dunnigan and Megan Meyer both had good games, scoring one apiece for the Lightning. Raquel Crespo and Amy Martinelli were solid in goal, with Martinelli making a key save in the final minutes of the game to preserve the lead for the Lightning. Helene Sorensen and Dale Shearin were strong on D.

Lightning 1, Danbury 0 – Sarah Lynch delivered a goal to clinch the game for the Lightning against a tough Danbury team. Meaghan Korchman had an excellent game on defense, while Siena Cicarelli and Taylor Lafave were a force in the midfield. Goalies Kate Fallon and Dale Shearin performed well.

Lightning 3, Southbury 0 – Sarah Lynch capped off the tournament with a hat trick against Southbury. Jessica Keller and Michelle Zarifis were quick and effective in the midfield, backed up by Meaghan Brophy with another great game on D. Kate Fallon and Amy Martinelli handled the nets for the Lightning shut-out.

Girls U10

Comets 1, Westport 1 – In a well-matched game Katie Mossbarger scored the lone goal off an assist by Brenna Kelly in the Bethel Columbus Day Tournament. Casey Harkins and Mikayla Kuligowski provided strong offensive support while Portia Baudisch makes increasingly greater impact at midfield. Madeline Sieber paced the defensive effort while Alyssa Ruefenacht and Kim Brello shared time in goal.

Comets 2, Wilton 0 – In their first win of the season, the Comets defeated their opponents behind the swift hustle of Alyssa Ruefenacht. Kelsey Muniz with her gutsy determination and Julia Schoeni with patient follow through of a corner kick scored the 2 goals. The shutout was earned by Katie Mossbarger and Emily Charash, each with great saves, and solid defense by stopper Madeline Sieber and Alana Murray.

Comets 2, Fairfield 0 – Casey Harkins and Katie Mossbarger notched one goal apiece in a win over Fairfield. Kelsey Muniz had the assist to Harkins’ goal while adding some very nice shots of her own. Tight defensive play came from Haley Trudell, Brenna Kelly and Sarah Lyon. Goal tending duties went to Emily Charash with her soaring punts and Mossbarger.

Comets 1, Wilton 0 – In their toughest match of the tournament, tenacious offensive effort came from Mikayla Kuligowski, who scored the lone goal off an assist from Kelsey Muniz. Adding to the attack were Julia Schoeni, Kim Brello and Muniz who rifled the opposing keeper with numerous shots. Portia Baudisch maintained her midfield support while Sarah Lyon displayed tremendous defensive effort as the Comets finished the tournament undefeated at 3-0-1.

IN-HOUSE

Boys U14

Vipers 3, Strykerz 1 – Josh Branchflower scored two goals and Luke Shearin added one to lead the Vipers to the win. Fredrik Dean played great in goal while Tom Giarratano played strong in the midfield. Chad Cullens score the lone goal for the Strykerz, who along with Tyler Hanna kept up the offensive pressure. Vivek Tedla and Thomas Meier were solid at midfield.

AT&T  4, Strykerz  0  – Will Swain, Mergin Bajraliu, Gavin Scallon and Will Carr each scored a goal to lead AT&T to the win. Jimmy Russo and Robert Russo played great defense. For the Strykerz, Sean Watkins had a great game as keeper. Tyler Hanna and Jack McManus led the offense while Nick Klein and Ethan Perkus played solid in the midfield.

Girls U14

Smiters 6, Pumas 2 – Claire Miles netted a hat trick to lead the Smiters, while Claire Bernson, Jessica Lynch and Abigail Hungaski scored a goal each to secure the win. Quincy de Young and Aileen Sheluck also had great games. For the Pumas, Courtney Yapp and Samantha Luzietti scored, while Jennifer O’Grady had a strong game on defense and Emily Davis played well on offense.

Girls U10

Funky Monkeys 4, Blazing Monkeys 0 – Lauren Beier, Victoria Kirkman, and Stefanie Carr scored goals to lead the Funky Monkeys to the win. Amy Pruner and Bailey Smith each played a great overall game. For the Blazing Monkeys, Hannah Grant was solid in goal as Emma Lardner and Higham created several scoring chances. Faith Pereira and Sophia DeVivo were solid on defense.

Turf Devils 6, Torpedoes 2 – Kat Jennings scored three goals as the Turf Devils sunk the Torpedoes. Bridget McDonald, Kelly Merrick and Grace Sandercox also scored. Denise Kuban sparkled on D. For the Torpedoes, Amanda Mele and Amanda Martinez scored one goal each as Jaqueline Mooney was great on defense. Chloe Blakeman and Kayla DiSibio played well.

Sharpshooters 5, Bulldogs 0 – Caitlin Filiato scored two goals and Tonya Tucker and Jenna Hansen added one each to lead the ‘Shooters to the win. Amanda Albanesi and Katheryn Blanco played great all around games. For the ‘Dogs, strong overall play by Megan Milano and Anna Buzzanca led the way. Hannah Bellagamba played well on D as Maddie Bridges and Emily Turco were strong in the goal in the second half.

Rockets 2, Galaxy 2 – Grace Frost and Brianna Baranowski scored to lead the Rockets to the draw. Kelly Coughlin, Claire Beiter and Katy Reilly played strong defense. For the Galaxy, goals were scored by Sierra Mather and Meghan Grimes. Strong play came from Alexandra Dittrich and Annie Hoffman while Leah Bromberg was great on defense.

Boys U10

Stags 4, Blue Dragons 2 – Christopher Anesi and Liam Nichols scored two goals apiece to lead the Stags to the win. Brandon Rodriquez and Joe Perkus played well on D. For the Dragons, Ryan “Quin” Helmig and Jacob Harper scored one goal apiece as Akash Ahuja and Hayes Kelchner played solid defense.

Oskars 6, Silenzers 3 – Grant Untied-Obre scored two goals while Colin Villamana scored one and had an excellent offensive game to lead the Oskars. Matt Hess was great in goal, and Nathaniel Dowd had a great all-around game. For the Silenzers, Matt Stewart scored a goal, Forest Speed and Nathan Augenbraun were great on defense, and Matt Galassi had a great offensive game.

Tigers 4, Twisters 4 – Tony Leonardi scored all four goals for the Tigers. Tommy Rahr and John Narducci both played well in the field. For the Twisters, Tim VanderHave scored all four goals, Kieran Lynch played a strong midfield, Carter Nordman was excellent all-around, and Zach Weiland played well in goal.

Boys U8

Team (#4) 5, Great Whites 3 – Thomas Leuci scored twice and Alex Hess added a solo to lead the Great Whites. Luke Melillo made a number of fine saves in goal as Hagi Hagischi was solid on D.

Girls U8

Mustangs 4, Blue Champions 0 – Nevan Gattey (2), Priya Deraney and Alexandra Ferris scored to lead the Mustangs to the win. Jacqueline Spears had the shut out in goal with many fine saves. Natalie Shaker and Alexandra Watson had assists. For the Champions, Chloe London-Ayr and Mia Katsuleres had an excellent offensive effort as Katelyn Henchcliffe and Lauren Granville played well on defense.

Fighting Irish 3, Skunks 1 – Megan Goyda and Megan Kelleher scored to lead the Irish to the win. Lyndsey Francisco put forth a strong offensive effort and Caroline Caporale played outstanding on defense. For the Skunks, Diana Kirkman scored off a double assist by Caroline Condon and Madison Findley. Haley Harkins was a force in goal and Holly LoCasio stayed strong on defense.

Dynamites 2, American Eagles 2 – Sarah Houle scored two goals to lead the Dynamites. Erin Tressler played well offensively, while Savannah Mather and Lauren Carrino played fine overall games. The American Eagles were led with goals by Meghan Doyle and Grace Sholtes, while Cecilia Schoeni and Rachel Tomasino had nice overall games.

Girls U6

Fighting Irish 3, Cheetahs 0 – Audrey Benson, Alison Kelleher and Jenna Lavelle all scored to lead the Irish to the win. Ashley Francisco and Lindsay Merrifield played outstanding on offense and defense. For the Cheetahs, Lauren Adams and Sarah Holcomb had fantastic games on both sides of the ball. Beth Savinelli was a force to be reckoned with on defense and Emma Stierle was terrific in the goal.

Rhinos 3, Little Darlings 3 – Carly Swierbut, Angela Vodola and Veronica Vodola scored one goal each to lead the Rhinos. Madison Ziperstein played an outstanding game. Katie Sailer scored two goals for the Darlings and Simone Paradis scored one. Sarah Grant played excellent offense while Emma Gotschlich and Gracie Howgego were strong defenders.

Boys U6

Team (#11) 3, Pirates 1 – Harvey Long, James Doyle and Aiden Coleman each scored for Team #11 while the Pirates got a goal from Julian Michallik and saw some terrific saves in goal from Ben Qi and Max Bloomquist. Trevor Tyrrell played a solid game on both sides of the ball for the Pirates.
