Toasting The NSA With Fine Wines
Toasting The NSA With Fine Wines
On a beautiful fall evening, the Newtown Scholarship Association held its first annual Harvest Wine Tasting October 6 at the Rock Ridge Country Club. The event was attended by more than 200 people who choose tastings from 100-plus wines from around the globe. There was also a table with a variety of beer to sample. Cheese, breads, and hors dâoeuvres complimented the wine provided.
Among the tables of wine distributors were many silent auction items, including seasonal theme baskets, artwork, and event tickets. Also on display were sports and musical memorabilia provided by Mike Riccio Sports, LLC.
Celebrating 70 years of existence, the Newtown Scholarship Association promotes and helps to advance the education of secondary school graduates by providing financial assistance to promising students. Originally, a single scholarship of $50 was awarded. Now, more than 60 scholarships totaling over $200,000 are awarded annually to June graduates and as continuing aid to undergraduates. Since 1937, nearly $3 million has been awarded to Newtown students.
