The Enchanted Castle Magical Storybook Experience Returns

FAIRFIELD — The Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers Auxiliary will present “The Enchanted Castle: A Magical Storybook Experience,” October 20–30 at Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road. With its colorful storybook theme-rooms and friendly costumed characters, the Enchanted Castle provides a nonthreatening, entertaining Halloween experience for young children.

Hours are 10 am to 5 pm October 20 and 27; noon to 5 pm October 21 and 28; and 4 to 7 pm October 24, 25, 26, 29 and 30. Admission is $5. For information, call 203-336-7364 or visit www.enchantedcastle.org.

Co-chaired by Shaun Amberg and Kay Smith of Fairfield, the Enchanted Castle is in its 13th year. Proceeds benefit the patient care programs of Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers.

Returning to the Enchanted Castle this year is the popular Snow White theme room and the Auxiliary’s Teddy Bear Picnic.

The Teddy Bear Picnic is for children from birth to 3 in Ahlbin Centers’ Childhood Early Intervention Program, which provides rehabilitative care for developmental delays; neurological, orthopedic and speech disorders; and injuries such as burns.

The auxiliary is seeking qualified volunteers to fill more than 250 storybook characters roles during the ten days of the event. For information on volunteer opportunities, e-mail characters@enchantedcastle.org.

The rehabilitation medicine arm of Bridgeport Hospital, Ahlbin Centers also provides outpatient services in Bridgeport, Shelton, Southport, Stratford, and Trumbull. Services include physical, occupational and speech therapy, audiology including hearing assessments and hearing aid fittings, and an Early Childhood Intervention Program.
