Scholarships Available Through Womanâs Club
There is a November 1 deadline for requesting applications for the following statewide scholarships sponsored locally by Newtown Womanâs Club, GFWC:
*Phipps Memorial Scholarship, which was created in 1926 to help deserving students further their education;
*The Dorothy E. Schoelzel Scholarship, first awarded in 1967 to assist women in the field of education to continue their academic career at accredited institutions;
*Waterbury Womanâs Club Scholarship, created in 1977 to assist deserving students to further their education in working with learning disabled children; and
*Wesleyan Writers Conference Scholarship, awarded to a woman who has a major interest in writing. The nationally rated conference provides participants with a weeklong interaction with famous international writers, publishers and editors.
Applicants must be women who are currently enrolled in either an undergraduate or masterâs program, and have already completed at least two years of college with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
