Longtime Newtown Resident
Robert M. Morrissey of Roswell, Ga., died October 2, following a long illness. Mr Morrissey was born August 3, 1940, in Northampton, Mass. A kind, quiet and gentle man, he was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be terribly missed by them.
A longtime resident of Newtown, Mr Morrissey moved to Georgia in 1990 with the Georgia Pacific Corporation. In Newtown he served on the vestry and was treasurer at Trinity Episcopal Church, was an active volunteer for Newtown High School Band Parents, and was a longtime member and president of the Danbury area chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants.Â
Mr Morrissey was a graduate of Northampton High School and American International College, received an MBA from the University of Connecticut, and was a Certified Public Accountant. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy Rennet Morrissey; son Craig of Roswell, Ga.; daughter Elizabeth Morrissey and her husband, Gary N. Kleiman of Alexandria, Va.; beloved granddaughter Diana of Alexandria, Va.; sister Mary Lemieux of West Springfield, Mass.; two nephews, two nieces, and two grandnephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, October 20, at the United Church of Pelham, Amherst Road, Pelham, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to one of the following: Alzheimerâs Foundation, 322 Eighth Avenue, Seventh Floor, New York NY 10001 or The Elaine Clark Child Development Center, 5130 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Chamblee GA 30341.
