Have these people never heard of âBlister in The Sunâ??! âAdd It Upâ??! âKiss Offâ??! Whoâs writing this publicity?! *deep breath*
Wolf Den shows are free of charge, but seating it limited. Showtime is 8 pm both nights, and you must be at least 21 to get into the Den.
*JOHN MELLENCAMP is gearing up for a winter tour in the United States, and will include a stop at Mohegan Sunâs Arena on Friday, December 7, with LOS LOBOS offering an opening set. The tour will include his touring band (the same group of musicians who record with him) and will cover a broad portion of his repertoire, from classic hits dating back to âHurts So Goodâ and âJack and Dianeâ to a preview of new material to be included on his new album project.
Tickets will be on sale this weekend, beginning 10 am Saturday, and are priced at $42 and $52. Contact any TicketMaster vendor; tickets will also be available beginning Sunday morning at the arenaâs box office.
*Music at Mocha begins this weekend with CHICKS âN SYNC on Friday, October 12, at 7:30 pm. The Glen Road, Sandy Hook coffee house will host the three female members of Fairfield Crossing, performing traditional and contemporary Irish-Scottish, Appalachian, bluegrass, New England and French Canadian tunes.
On Saturday night it will be the return of JOHN VOKET and BRENDAN WALSH, the dynamic duo of acoustic jam. The guys will also be playing a 7:30 show, filled with their own take on the music of Van Morrison, Bruce Hornsby, Gordon Lightfoot, Grateful Dead, Jimmy Buffett, Matchbox Twenty and plenty of others.
*Pumpkins, a corn maze⦠and music.
Castle Hill Farm & Pumpkin Patch will host a Fall Festival this weekend, with live music being offered each afternoon.
KATHLEEN KRUZE & FRIENDS will be performing original jazz and blues on Saturday, October 13, from 3 to 5 pm. Kathleen writes all of her own material and has developed a distinctive style and sound. Her band includes jazz violinist Richard Brooks, bassist and backing vocalist Robin Simmons, and percussionist James Moss.
Kathleen will be celebrating the release of her new CD this weekend, by the way.
On Sunday it will be REDSTONE RIDGE performing, also starting around 3. This bluegrass band was one of the featured performers during C.H. Booth Libraryâs 2007 summer concert series and received positive reviews from the folks I heard from after their show.
In the event of inclement weather the concerts will be rescheduled for a later date; call 426-5487 if weather is questionable.
In addition to the music there will be plenty for everyone to do. The farmâs corn maze is fully up and running at this point, plus there are ongoing hay rides, pony rides and pumpkin picking. There will also be face painting and family portraits available this weekend, both for a fee.
Until next week Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
