Hundreds of lacrosse players hit the turf field at Treadwell Parks over the Columbus Day weekend for the third annual Newtown 7-on-7 Fall Lacrosse Tournament.

More than 400 youth players from all across the region were on the field Saturday. The Newtown squads performed well, as the eighth grade boys reached the semifinals and the Junior (5th/6th grade) boys made it to the quarterfinals.

The seventh grade boys were champions of their division, carrying a 6-1 record and impressive wins over John Jay, Trumbull, Guilford, and Weston.

In the high school event on Monday, the Newtown varsity went 5-1 with wins over Weston, New Fairfield and Amity. The Newtown junior varsity went 4-2 with wins over Ridgefield, Weston and Immaculate.
