Speak Programs
FAIRFIELD â âCourage to Speak,â a drug education program, will be presented at Fairfield University on Tuesday, October 26, at 7 pm in the Barone Campus Oak Room. The program is free and open to the public.
âCourage to Speakâ was created by Virginia Katz of Norwalk, who lost her son, a 20-year-old college student, to a drug overdose three years ago. In a presentation she has delivered to over 6,000 people, including parents and students in college, high school and middle schools in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, she encourages people to step forward and address the problem of substance abuse. Too often, she says, teenagers are afraid to share the fact that they or a friend are in trouble with drugs. But it is only by speaking openly, she says, that this problem can be solved.
This event has been arranged by the Office of Student Services at Fairfield University. For information, call 203/254-4000, ext. 2146.
