Jesse Rebar, a member of Newtown Bible Church, has earned certification as a Biblical Counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).

ACBC now has three certified counselors listed in Connecticut, including Mr Rebar.

Convinced that the Scriptures are completely sufficient for all life’s struggles and problems, Mr Rebar began the process of working toward certification three years ago. As part of the ministry at Newtown Bible Church he has met with people over issues including worry, anxiety, adultery, gluttony, depression, and others.

The goal with this counseling is to always strive to live a life of thankfulness to God through faith and repentance because of what He has graciously done through the perfect life, sacrificial death, and triumphant resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Counseling is free of charge as part of the ministry at Newtown Bible Church and relates to life-dominating issues such as those mentioned above or for anyone interested in learning more about God, what He has done, and what He expects.

Mr Rebar and Newtown Bible Church Pastor Parker Reardon will be attending the ACBC annual conference in October. This year’s topic is related to mental illness and the Gospel.

The purpose of Newtown Bible Church states, “We exist to glorify God, through Jesus Christ, by the preaching of His God-breathed word so that believers are sanctified (made more like Christ), sinners are saved (brought into relationship with God through Christ), and Christ-centered fellowship (mutual enjoyment of Christ) and ministry would produce lives captured with the single passion of knowing and serving Jesus Christ.”

The church has two faithful pastors, Joey Newton and Parker Reardon, who live lives that demonstrate they capture the reality of saving grace.

Formerly known as National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC), ACBC has existed for nearly 40 years “to ensure doctrinal integrity and to promote excellence in biblical counseling.”  The goal through the training and counseling ACBC offers is “rigorous, but attainable by even the busiest pastor.”

ACBC aims to provide training for “all pastors, professors, and other Christian servants who desire to be trained in their gospel-responsibility to be disciple-makers.”
