Malcolm L. Taylor
Malcolm Leigh Taylor, 77, of 41 Brownson Drive, Shelton, died October 10 after a brief illness. Mr Taylor was the devoted husband of 51 years to Susan (Hawley) Taylor.
He was the brother of Kate Hayes of Newtown.
Mr Taylor was born in Fairfield on October 10, 1923, son of the late Clinton Bagg and Kate (Perry) Taylor, and had been a Shelton resident for most of his life. He was a self-employed contractor for more than 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 15th Air Force as a pilot, flying more than 50 missions in the European Theater in B-24s, and was a member of the VFW in the Huntington section of Shelton.
Mr Taylor was the beloved father of Leigh H. Taylor of Bossier City, La., Maj. Thomas D. Taylor of Omaha, Neb., and Susan (Taylor) Pittman of Roswell, Ga. He was the brother of George, Jonathan, and Daniel Taylor, all of Shelton, Claire Fuller and Jane Folsom, both of Shelton, Mary Martin of Wilmington, N.C., Eliza Billings of Lotta, S.C., and Marjorie Taylor of Whiting, Vt. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service with full military honors was held on October 12 in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, with the Rev Thomas Walter, pastor of the United Congregational Church of Bridgeport, officiating. Burial was in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton.
