Birding From Costa

Rica To The Caribbean

SOUTHBURY — On October 26, Lillinonah Audubon Society will hold its monthly general meeting at the Parish House of South Britain Congregational Church, on the corner of East Flat Hill Road and Route 172. The social hour will begin at 7:30 pm, to be followed by the program at 8 pm. The public is welcome and there is no charge.

The topic for the evening will be “Birds from the Costa Rica Cloud Forest to the Caribbean Slope.” Frank Gallo, an avid birder and the director of eco-travel and field studies at New Canaan Nature Center, will take the audience on a bird’s-eye trip through Costa Rica’s rich rain forests and diverse wildlife habitats, traveling from Monteverde’s dwarf cloud forest to the Rara Avis Reserve on the Caribbean Slope.

Mr Gallo is the author of two children’s books and a freelance nature photographer. As a part of his duties at the nature center, he has led tours throughout the United States and as far afield as Peru, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, New Zealand and South Africa.

For further information, call Mary K. Harmon, 264-4124.
