Vote For Jahana Hayes
To The Editor:
Have you noticed that medical appointments are getting shorter? At a recent visit, after waiting months to get an appointment, the doctor barely looked at me, and I was out the door in 7 minutes. At the same time, copays, health insurance and medications are getting more and more expensive. Healthcare has become all about profits: big corporations are buying up medical practices, and big drug companies are raking in more and more money. What happened to patient-centered care?
Jahana Hayes understands; that’s why she’s getting my vote in November.
We have one of the most expensive healthcare systems in the world, but our health outcomes are worse than other wealthy countries. This makes no sense! Congresswoman Hayes is working to make healthcare affordable, accessible and equitable. She voted to decrease insurance premiums under the Affordable Care Act.
She voted to cap Medicare out-of-pocket expenses and insulin costs, to keep Big Pharma from raising drug prices faster than inflation, and to allow Medicare to negotiate medication prices, all of which will lower our prescription drug costs. She voted to ban surprise bills after emergency healthcare. She voted for resources and services to fight the opioid epidemic, and to expand community mental-health services. She is fighting the public health crisis of gun violence. She is fighting to make sure that no one goes hungry. And she is fighting to make sure that everyone has the freedom to make their own healthcare and reproductive choices.
Jahana Hayes knows what it’s like to struggle, and she cares. She is fighting for a healthcare system that will work for us and actually help us be healthy. She is fighting for a healthcare system that prioritizes our needs, rather than corporate profits. Please join me in voting for Jahana Hayes for Congress.
