Thomas David Estabrook, 61, of Newtown died at his home on October 5. He was born on March 29, 1955, in Bridgeport, to the late Mae L.(Gray) and Donald F. Estabrook. He was the youngest of three children.

Mr Estabrook graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in forestry.

"Brooks," as he was known to his friends, moved to Newtown in 1992; he worked as a longshoreman in Bridgeport and New Haven. He was a former president of the union where he worked. He was an avid sports fan of the Baltimore Orioles, NY Giants, and UConn women's basketball. He was a skillful craftsman and his home was his "labor of love." He also had a passion for the outdoors and gardening.

Mr Estabrook will be sadly missed by all the lives that he touched. He leaves memories and countless stories to his loving and dear family of friends: Joe Kochiss, Garret Henchcliffe, and Sheila Smith. His sister Linda S. (Estabrook) Gazsi and her husband, Andrew, of Enfield, a niece, and two nephews survive him. His brother Donald R. Estabrook predeceased him in 2009.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, from 11 am to 1 pm at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.
