Weeklong Celebration Of St Jude

MONROE — Saint Jude Parish in Monroe will celebrate the Feast of St Jude Thaddeus, the patron of the parish, with special celebrations. The annual Novena to St Jude Thaddeus will take place for nine days from October 20 through 28, at 7:30 pm. On October 21 and 28, the Novena will be at the 5:30 pm Saturday Mass.

The theme of the Novena sermons will be “Jesus Lord Of Our Lives.”

On Friday evening the celebrant will be Rev Msgr Nicholas Grieco, pastor of St Francis of Assisi Church, Weston, Conn., whose sermon theme will be “Jesus, Lord of our choices.”

On Saturday evening, parish priest with Sunday Mass sermon at 5:30 pm.

Sunday evening, Rev Francis Hoffman, pastor of St Joseph Church, Shelton, whose theme will be “Jesus, Lord of our sacrifices.”

On Monday evening, Rev Richard Futie, pastor of St Mary Church, Stamford, sermon topic, “Jesus, Lord of our Harvests.”

Tuesday evening, Rev Robert Weiss, pastor of St Rose Church, Newtown, whose theme will be “Jesus, Lord of our Endings.”

Wednesday evening, Rev Joseph Palacino, parochial vicar of St Jerome Church, Norwalk, sermon on “Jesus, Lord of our Obligations.”

Thursday evening, Rev Ernest Esposito, director of Family Life Ministries, Diocese of Bridgeport, whose sermon will be “Jesus, Lord of our Families.”

Friday evening, Rev Msgr Kevin Wallin, pastor of St Peter Church, Danbury, whose theme will be “Jesus, Lord of our Cconflicts.”

Saturday evening, parish priest with Sunday Mass sermon at 5:30 pm.

Coffee and fellowship each evening. Every evening there will be an opportunity to present petitions at the altar and veneration of the relic of St Jude Thaddeus.

Those who are unable to attend may send their petitions to the parish.

On Sunday, October 29, the parish will celebrate wedding anniversaries at the noon Mass. There will be a special blessing for those couples. A reception will be held in their honor in the parish center.
