JUNIORS

BROOKFIELD 17, HAWKS 7: The Hawks sent 12 batters to the plate and took a 7-6 lead in the fifth inning, but ran out of pitching in an otherwise finely-played game. Brian Duffy and Pete Oggeri registered strong performances on the mound and Oggeri keyed the offense while going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Jim Leebaert was also 2-for-3 while Chris Giorno and Eric Rodriguez each had a hit.

BETHEL 9, HAWKS 8: The Hawks came back from six runs down in the final two innings, only to lose on an infield single in the bottom of the seventh. Catcher Pete Oggeri was nearly flawless blocking pitched in the dirt and Eric Rodriguez made a fine relay that nailed a runner at the plate. Liam Cawley made a diving, tumbling put-out at second base to also spark the defense. At the plate, Rodriguez and Bobby Grauer had two RBI apiece while Brian Duffy, Jim Leebaert and Oggeri stroked solid base hits.
