Calling all area horse riding enthusiasts. The Friends of the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG) is seeking riders to participate in the Your Horse — Our Trails fundraising trail ride scheduled for Sunday, October 16, on the Horse Guard grounds, 4 Trades Lane, in Fairfield Hills. The ride will be held from 8 am to 1 pm (riders must head out on the trail by 11:30 am).

Members of the 2GHG will be on hand to welcome riders to participate in a beautiful trail ride among the Catherine Hubbard Sanctuary property, as well as pathways through the “enchanted forest,” a wooded area displaying colorful fall foliage, trees, and running streams. Riders of all skill levels can enjoy a leisurely walk, trot, or canter along the beautiful fields and wooded trails (no water crosses). For those riders and horses wanting to test their riding skills and abilities, there will be an optional challenge course that will include a series of fun and exciting activities. Both the trail ride and challenge course are included in the registration donation.

Great prizes including gift cards to local businesses and gift baskets will be awarded to horse and riders holding top-three best timed rides. The ride is an hour to an hour-and-a-half depending on pace. Proof of current Coggins certificate must be presented at entry to event. Riders under the age of 18 years must be accompanied on the trail by an adult.

Registration is available at Eventbrite 2ghg-22-ride.falleventbrite.com. Advance registration closes by Sunday, October 9. Suggested donation is $45 (October 9) and on-site registration is suggested at $55. Questions regarding the event can be left on 2GHG voicemail at 203-270-6203.
