To the Editor:

I am writing to express my support for Mary Ann Jacobs to represent the 2nd District on the Legislative Council.

During her past two terms representing our district, Mary Ann has proven both as a member, and most recently as the chair, that she understands and is willing to address the major issues that Newtown faces. Mary Ann has shown great fiscal restraint in tough economic times, while still supporting spending in critical areas such as public safety and the town’s infrastructure. The policies that have been put in place during her tenure have put Newtown in a much better financial position. Her ability to create a consensus among the townspeople have helped enable the last two budgets to pass in one referendum without an increase in the tax rate.

 Mary Ann’s dedication to her district has been apparent for years. She has volunteered at many events in Sandy Hook Village, and has been an avid supporter of SHOP. She has been an advocate for the continuing revitalization of Sandy Hook Center. Mary Ann has been a leader throughout the Sandy Hook Elementary School process, and I feel she will be a great asset to Newtown for years to come. Please support her for a third term on the Legislative Council.
