To the Editor:

I’m very pleased to write this letter of endorsement for my friend and neighbor Tony Filiato. Tony is running for reelection to a seat on the Legislative Council for the Third District. My family and I have known Tony and his family for several years and I can firmly attest that he’s a man of great integrity who genuinely wants what’s best for Newtown.

Over the years, Tony and I have had many strenuous debates about local politics and whatever the agenda item, he always lands firmly on the side of fiscal responsibility and common sense. Even when that might go against the party line position.

Most recently, Tony has been very passionate about improving the conditions of our local roads and the supporting infrastructure. He is also deeply committed to supporting best possible educational experience for our children. Additionally, he is keenly aware of the fiscal challenges we’re facing and advocates positions that will encourage responsible growth of the tax base while still keeping it “Nicer in Newtown”.

Tony’s dedication to Newtown is clear. His commitment and experience as an attorney, Legislative Council member, resident, husband, and father are a powerful combination that we must continue to have within our town government.

I can’t think of a better person to represent our district on the Legislative Council. Please join me in supporting Tony Filiato for reelection!
