Youth Cross Country Results

Newtown’s middle school/ youth cross country teams raced against Whisconier, Fairfield Woods, Scotts Ridge and Wilton behind Reed School on Tuesday.

The boys’ team was led by Nathan Kalra, who finished fifth, followed closely by Brenton Scott in sixth, Vanya Donaher in eighth and Joey Whelan in ninth. Steve Anderau grabbed 11th place to pace the boys’ past Whisconier, Scotts Ridge and Fairfield Woods. The boys lost only to Wilton (by 9 points) and have a record of 9-4. Additional top finishers were Nate Steinebrey in 13th, Sean Kemsley in 17th, Alec Beauchemin in 21st, Andrew Cragin in 23rd and Sam Coffey in 28th.

In the girls’ race Anna Northrup finished second to Cate Allen of Fairfield Woods, who is the only runner to beat her this season. Kerry Scallon was 17th, Molly Begg 20th, Amy Martinelli 23rd, Eliza Eggelston 26th, Laura Hornby 27th, Hannah Schmidt 31st and Madeline Meier 39th. The girls beat Whisconier and Scotts Ridge but lost to Fairfield Woods and Wilton, and have a 7-6 record this season.
