The ‘Accidental President’

To the Editor:

We are witnessing the biggest expansion of the federal government our country has ever seen. Before us is a “health care overhaul” that several otherwise unemployable bureaucrats known as “the government” are literally hiding from us. And we as citizens are supposed to just take it? Insurance is meant to transfer risk. If there are no citizens to which that risk gets transferred (read the young who use very little benefits but pay up plenty), then what? This idea will only work with a public option. Which is why it should go down as a miserable failure. Communal policy never works, it retards development and innovation, it drains productivity and rewards mediocrity. The pooling of massive chunks of potential voters for the purposes of “insuring” some of them is ridiculous. Plus, there is no true method to execute a policy that is merely a magnified version of a wasteful Medicare program. The President’s legislative agenda should fail (and thankfully thus far it has) because it is bad for America. No, no, I’m not a racist. I didn’t vote for John Kerry or Al Gore either.

B.H. Obama should be called the “Accidental President”. He gave us a great interview. He was the new kid, seemed bright, a little ambiguous with his answers but that’s OK, he’s young and handsome. The other guy was old, kept saying “my friends” and, get this, he chose a conservative woman as a running mate. Can you believe it? Oh yeah, the old guy and the woman were also Republicans. Wasn’t G.W. Bush a Republican? Can’t vote for them because of, you know Halliburton and all. Plus the other guy was so young and handsome, he must know what to do. Let’s take a chance and hire the young guy. The rest is history.

So now we’re into the $trillions in spending with no clear idea how to pay for it. And there are $trillions more waiting to be pushed through while we all are asleep at the switch. To sneak in the stimulus bill the term “saved or created” was coined to argue how well the stimulus will work. Is that a joke? How is that figure measured? Why not just say Obama saved or created every job? Thank goodness we hired him.

Lastly, there is a budget deficit and $trillions of federal debt because the otherwise unemployable bureaucrats in Washington want it that way. Make no mistake about it. Every dime spent is approved by Congress. The federal debt ceiling is raised by Congress. There is/isn’t inflation/deflation because of the money supply controlled in Washington. Trade policy is made in Washington. Federal subsidies and entitlement programs and environmental policy are formed in Washington. We can do better, we should do better. America is a Representative Republic (not a Democracy for those that are unaware) and our representatives have failed us. It’s time to take America back.
