Real Estate Agent 'In The Pink' For Breast Cancer Awareness
Real Estate Agent âIn The Pinkâ For Breast Cancer Awareness
By Nancy K. Crevier
She was tickled pink to be supporting breast cancer awareness; or rather, her hair was âpickledâ pink.
Jackie Zvon, a real estate agent with William Raveis of Newtown, had pink streaks applied to her hair Tuesday afternoon, October 6, at Salon Michele in the Queen Street Plaza. The daughter of a two-time breast cancer survivor, she will wear the pink highlights the entire month of October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, she said.
âIâm a 57-year-old woman dying my hair pink,â laughed Ms Zvon, as hairstylist Maggie Russo applied the magenta dye to her hair. âIt helps me sell tickets!â
Ms Zvon will be selling raffle tickets, for $5 each, Saturday, October 10, at the new Ace Hardware Store on Queen Street, from 10 am to 3 pm, and on Friday, October 16, in front of Sandy Hook Liquor Store in Sandy Hook Center, from 3 to 6 pm, to support the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund. Tickets will also be sold Friday, October 9, at Yankee Spirit Shop in the Queen Street Plaza, from 3 to 6 pm, or can be purchased anytime at the William Raveis office at 14 Church Hill Road, or by emailing Ms Zvon at Zvonj@raveisre.com.
âWilliam Raveis, nationwide, has raised over $1 million in five years to promote breast cancer awareness and support research,â said Ms Zvon, who along with her pink hairstyle will sport pink apparel every day in October. All of the proceeds from the sale of the raffle tickets this year will go to the Navigator Care Program at the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center in Farmington, supported by the William Raveis Charitable Fund, Inc.
Prizes include jewelry, plasma TVs, gift cards, digital cameras, Red Sox tickets, and vacations, said Ms Zvon, and all prizes were donated. Any other expenses related to the raffle are picked up by William Raveis, allowing all money brought in through the sale of the tickets to go directly to the program. The drawing for prizes will be held December 2, at noon, at the William Raveis Shelton office. Winners need not be present.
